Mild winter foils ice wine production

Because of a mild winter, Northern Sun Winery could not make ice wine that year. Vineyard manager Jonathan Bovard explained how warmer weather caused grapes to rot before they could freeze on the vine. In response, the winery started experimenting with rhubarb-based fruit wines (plain rhubarb, rhubarb-blueberry, rhubarb-strawberry, etc.) to help fill the gap.
